Our New Vision

Vision 2025-2028
We launched our new Vision on Sept 21st, the fruits of a year of thinking and planning by Simon and the PCC with a lot of data/idea gathering involving the whole church community and beyond. This page will be updated regularly (but not frequently!) as the six strands unfold.
Work has already begun and you can see more about it and our aims in the presentation given that day.
As many do not have access Powerpoint the slides have been converted into Portable Document Format to make them widely accessible. If you have difficulty reading them do please email us and we can supply in other ways.
Rev Simon explains
After Vespers (evening prayer) each evening in church, I try to read a section of the Rule of St Benedict and some commentary on that section by Joan Chittister OSB. Her commentary on a recent section took my breath away, '...The spiritual life is not a set of exercises appended to complete reordering of our values and our priorities and our lives. Spirituality is not just a matter of joining the closest religious community or parish committee or faith-sharing group. Spirituality is that depth of soul that changes our lives and focuses our efforts and leads us to see the world differently than we ever did before...'
This is the essence of what Benedict hoped and dreamed of when he wrote his rule. Living the Way of Jesus is just that - it is about living it. Church, therefore, isn't about a place we come to on a certain day at a certain time, but a community we become as we seek to live out what Jesus teaches.
As I enter my second year of ministry at All Saints, this is my hope for us. We will become a community of people who seek to live out what Jesus teaches in our daily lives. We will then gather to meet Jesus in our worship and be sent out to live it. Our church community will become what Benedict calls, 'a school of the Lord's service.' One that seeks to listen and learn from Jesus, and then, as His apprentices, lives that out.
